A true sign of growing up is when a child gets braces. Anna and Kate are both ready for braces, but we decided Kate is a little young for them. She will get them after Anna is done or close to being done. Anna was such a trooper when she got them put on. Her mouth hurt for several days, but she didn't complain.
The kids had spirit week at school. One of the days was character day. Anna was a baseball player, Kate dressed up as her teacher, and John was Waldo. They also had western day and some others, but we didn't get any other pictures of the rest of the days, only one of Kate on western day.
Rachel got some time away to attend a friend's wedding. We all drove up to the airport and stayed the night. It was a fun time with the kids being in the hotel and hanging out. Phil and the kids got up very early and drove back to go to work and school. Rachel took a hotel shuttle to the airport to fly to Texas. She was very busy helping her friend finish up last minute wedding details and also took care of making sure everyone stayed on schedule on the day of the wedding. This was a friend that lived in the same town as us overseas. It was such a sweet time of getting to be together and celebrate. It was also a great time for Rachel to have some time to read and relax while traveling. She also got to visit with her brother in Florida during a layover.
I am coaching middle school girls basketball at the kids' school. This age is so much fun to coach. They don't know anything about the sport and they are eager to learn. We mostly focus on the basics, dribbling, passing, shooting, touching the ball as much as possible. They are doing a great job and have learned so much already. I had them over for a fun time of playing games, snacks, and hanging out. We were missing one, but the rest were able to come.
Phil's mom subbed in Kate's class last week. Kate LOVED it! Phil's mom was able to take a picture of Kate's whole class (minus a few kids that were out).
We were back in South Carolina and celebrated John's birthday with Phil's family for the first time. John loved having all of his favorite people with him.
