Phil's (actual) 40th Birthday

 We had breakfast at home all together, Sam's Club for lunch, bowling for an afternoon fun time, and dinner at church. The girls and I made cream of crab and potato soup for dinner. It was a fun-filled day!

Surprise Work Dinner

 Phil's team had a surprise dinner at a local Mexican restaurant. It was a combination birthday/going away party since Phil's last day of work at the charter school would be on Sept. 2nd. 

Phil Flies a Plane

For Phil's 40th birthday, he requested a fly-over of Hartsville, but he didn't think it would actually happen. I called the local airport and scheduled a "discovery flight." I was thinking it would only be Phil that would be going up, but they said it was the same price no matter how many people went up (the plane only held 4). So, away we went! It was the pilot, Phil, and myself. We had such a good time and got to fly over Hartsville and also Darlington Raceway! Phil even got to fly the plane while we were up in the sky!

Carowinds-Phil's 40th Birthday

 We had a week long extravaganza for Phil's 40th birthday! It started with heading to Carowinds Friday evening for a few hours of roller coaster fun! Phil's sister has a season pass and could get us free parking and discounted tickets! Plus, the summer season was over and it meant the park was only open from 5-11! It wasn't too hot and the lines weren't crazy long! We took the girls and Phil's sister went with us. John spent the evening with Phil's parents. 

Making Dinner for Church

 This time we made Mexican, but did enchiladas and quesadillas. For dessert, we served Tres Leches cake, Mexican chocolate cake, and fruit not generally eaten here (papaya and mango). The girls are such good helpers and always do such a good job.

Rachel & John in the Mountains

 John and I took a weekend trip to the old house in the mountains. It was a good time to get away and also spend some one on one time with John! We also got to have s'mores with Aunt Sherri & Uncle Allen and spend some time deer watching on the porch. 

Youth Lock-In

 Our girls got to go to the youth lock-in at the church where their grandparents attend. We attended this church when we first moved to town, but found our own home church after Covid was (mostly) over. The girls know the kids here and have a good time with all of them.
