Kate and John played Upward Soccer for six weeks. I coached John's team and Anna was my assistant. It was the perfect amount of time. We had one practice a week and games on Saturday mornings. Phil was even able to step in to ref one week and help coach Kate's team for the final game. For the final game, our two teams (4-6th girls and 2-3rd boys) played against each other. It was a fun way to end the season having our two teams play each other.
Kate turned 12! She is a smart, funny, gifted, social child that does all things well. She loves her friends, books, her sister, and dogs. She really does excel at anything she tries! This year for her daddy/daughter breakfast, she wanted to stay home and have me make cinnamon roll pancakes. We had Subway for lunch with Phil's mom and then a family party with cream of crab and cake.
Kate had a birthday party with friends (a week before her birthday) to celebrate turning 12! The girls ate, did an art hub, and had a good time playing outside.
Our kitties turned one on April 22nd! They have been an unexpected surprise and joy to us all! Ginger and Nutmeg (our spice girls) make life a lot more fun and interesting.
We had a spontaneous family trip to Columbia to see the Fireflies play. It was a cool evening and a perfect night for baseball.
This year at a weekend youth retreat, Anna gave her life to Jesus! We are so thrilled that she finally made the decision to follow him! She was baptized by her Uncle Eric (our children and family pastor) at our church.
John's school had a mask policy for the longest time. This past year, they dropped the policy and said it was the parents' choice, but still encouraged staff and students to wear masks. Phil works at the school where John attends. We had a conversation about the class photo after we had already paid for it and found out that most of the kids wore their masks. What's the point of a class photo if I can't see the kids? After our long conversation, John said, "Mama, it's okay, I didn't wear my mask." Then we got his class photo...😂
Which of these is not like the other?
We all got to attend a friend's birthday party at Narroway Nature Center here in Hartsville. They have a few horses, lots of reptiles, and several other assorted animals. The kids had such a good time being outside and getting to interact with all the different types of animals. We found out that John LOVES reptiles of all sorts. It might be because they are all so quiet and calm. 😀
