What? No masks??

The kids and I went into a store with no masks for the first time in over a year. Crazy! It is so confusing around here right now. The governor has stopped mandating masks for the states, but some of the cities/stores/restaurants are still requiring them. We are all for not wearing them and are glad that it is not mandated anymore, but can't seem to figure out which stores are still requiring them. We were glad to be free of them and it felt like something I needed to document.

Covid Vaccine

Because Phil and I both work for schools, we were able to be in the second round of Covid vaccines. Our arms were sore after the first shot, but no other side effects. I, Rachel, had a rough day the second day after my second shot. I felt achy all over and spent most of the day in bed. After that day, I was fine. We normally don't document when we get the flu shot every year, but this felt important. It's been a crazy year filled with lots of different feelings and much controversy, but we are glad to get the shot so we can go about our lives like normal (whatever that looks like). 😉

Weekend Trip to Nashville

The kids had a long weekend, so Phil and I decided to take the days off as well and head to Nashville. Because of Covid (How many times have we all said that this past year?), we had two previously planned trips that were cancelled. The kids were really missing their friends and were glad to go back (so were we)! We drove Thursday after school/work and got in about 2 in the morning. We left to come back home Monday morning. It was a full, but very fun weekend catching up with lots of friends. We also got to see our old church's new building. We saw the shell of it last summer when we came back, but were not able to get there when they opened it this past fall. More than seeing the new building, it was so nice to be back at our old church.

Sweet friend, Laura, who we stayed with (We never get a picture of us with her and Josh.)

Kate's Volcano Project

Kate had to make a model of a volcano or the earth and she chose a volcano. Because Phil's dad had recently had a heart attack and was home for the week, he was able to help her. He is a science teacher, so this was right up his ally. The two of them really enjoyed working together to create the volcano.

Basketball Awards Ceremony

I, Rachel,  had my basketball awards ceremony and was able to speak for a few minutes about how much the girls have learned and improved over the season. Another highlight was that Anna got one of the coach's awards. The assistant coach and I talked about the top two players on the team and Anna was one of them. She worked so hard at every practice and in every game and she never complained. I'm sure it's tough having your mom be the coach, but Anna does what is asked of her and tries her very best every time. She also showed great improvement in all the skills, especially shooting. I love being able to coach and love having one of my own on my team.
