My sister and her family came down for Memorial Day weekend. We had a nice time showing them around our small town and exploring the great outdoors. Phil was also able to take the kids and do some geocaching.
Kate and John's awards ceremonies were virtual this year. Kate got all As for the year and the Christian leadership award for her class. She also got 2nd place in AR (accelerated reader) for the whole lower school. John received all As for the year and got a reading award. Because they were virtual, we did not get any pictures of Kate and John. Anna's awards ceremony was in person the next day. She got a typing award and the Christian leadership award for her class. We always tell our kids we don't care what grades they get as long as they are doing their best. We are all just glad to be done with school!
We did it!! We survived another year of school and our first full year back in the states. The kids did a great job of transitioning to a new town, new school, and new everything. We were so thrilled to finally be done and are ready for summer! The kids finished 2nd, 5th, and 7th.
Anna turned 13! We were able to have family over to celebrate our sweet girl becoming a teenager. She requested cream of crab (every year since she was little) for dinner and a peanut butter pie for her birthday dessert. On her actual birthday, she had a breakfast date with her dad, lunch out with us and her grandparents, time at the library, and a bike ride after dinner with me. She is a sweet girl and everyone that knows her loves her.
Anna played on a varsity soccer team this year as a 7th grader. The coach was really great to give all of the young girls a few minutes of playing time each game. She said it was really different to play with a bunch of older girls than what she experienced overseas. We are so thankful for our kids to be able to have lots of opportunities here to play sports at school.
All of our kids got bikes for their birthdays this year and so did we for Mother's day/Father's day presents. We now love taking bike rides as a family. We took two cousins and some church/neighbor friends the other day for a two hour ride.
A few times a year, Phil's mom puts on a themed dinner. This time it was an Italian theme. That was fun for our kids because they've been to Italy! We all dressed up in Italian colors, had Italian food, and played some fun games (Phil is in charge of the games.).
