The house where the family reunion is held every year is where Phil's grandma grew up. Her parents raised 13 children in that home (They had 16, but three died in infancy.) and it has been the gathering site for the reunion for the last 75+ years. The family members that owned the home for the last 20 years announced last year that they needed to sell the home due to (their) aging and not being able to care for the house any longer. Phil and I had many conversations over the past year about us buying the home. The cousins that owned it were going to sell it to family for what they bought it for. We had money from the sale of our other home prior to moving overseas. After much prayer and conversation, we bought the old family home. We spent several weeks in June at the old house cleaning up, sorting through, and displaying many old family artifacts. The nice thing about buying the home is that all of the old furniture and housewares stayed. Our plan is to use the house as a getaway for us, but also as a place of ministry for those needing a place to get away (at no charge). We hope that this place remains and continues to be a blessing to many as it has over the years.
