Part of our life overseas involves getting new visa photos every six months. We have to have them any time we apply for official documents: passports, visas, re-entry permits and the one rule is you are NOT allowed to smile. They always look rather morbid or like everyone is disgruntled and unhappy here. We all feel quite the opposite.
