Our sweet Katherine Elaine turned eight on April 29th! She was born at 9:01 p.m. weighing 9 lb. 1 oz. I was due on the 23rd (the day Phil and I got engaged-also, the day her younger brother was due), but she decided to wait six more days. Contractions didn't start until 5:30 on the day, but things got intense pretty quickly. Phil came home from work, a friend came to get Anna, and then we headed to the hospital. After some serious back labor (and no epidural-not enough time), she was born not even four hours later. She is such a super kid. She crawled early, she talked non-stop from 18 months on, and could even whistle then. She is super smart and does well in pretty much whatever she puts her mind to. She is funny and has never met a stranger. She makes friends so easily and everyone loves Kate. We love Kate!
On her birthday, Phil took her out for birthday breakfast (The girls have figured out that if they choose Cracker Barrel, daddy will buy them something from the gift shop.) and then headed to church. After church, we all went out to eat at the local Farmer's Market. Phil took Anna and John home and Kate, two of her friends (Stella and Lillian), and I went to the Sounds baseball game. The girls really didn't pay attention to the game, but they had a great time chatting and eating (endless popcorn and icees). We then went back to the house for dinner (She always requests cream of crab) and cake and ice cream with their families.
