Dec. 17th: Took a train from Prague to Munich. Phil woke up sick and got worse throughout the day. A bad cold (maybe the flu?). Anna has also been sneezing and wiping her nose a lot. Got into Munich late. We saw an Aldi!!! Got cereal and milk for the kids for dinner. They were so happy to have frosted Wheaties and almond milk! Phil and I had dinner at the hotel. Had problems with our rooms. Couldn't get in, rooms weren't next to each other, new room smelled like smoke, found someone's medicine bottles (a lot) in the drawer of our new room. Finally got settled around 9. Had dinner, everyone got showers, and then went to bed.
Dec. 18th: Got up early to get ready. Had breakfast at hotel (food from Aldi-yogurt, cereal, leftover pizza). Got Dunkin Donuts on the way to the train for kids and Phil to eat on the train. Got on the train to Füssen to head toward the castle. Phil is worse today. Anna seems a little better.
The castle was amazing!! You were not allowed to take pictures on the inside, so we only have pictures of the outside. We went on a listening audio your. Each of us (even the kids) has a handheld device to put up to our ear and listen. The kids are used to listening to audio books, so they loved it. John did really well! We then walked up to Mary's Bridge. We had to stop a lot because Phil was feeling so bad. We walked across the bridge and back. Kate was scared, but Anna did surprisingly well. I think John was in the middle. Got back to Füssen and boarded a train for Stuttgart. It was a little tricky getting to our hotel, but we made it, after taking a regional train and walking 20 min.
The hotel was great. We got a room upgrade and free breakfast the next day. The pool was open so Phil took the kids swimming while I took a shower and fell asleep. So tired!!
